Lakeshore Legal Aid - Executive Assistant - Southfield, MI

Organization Overview:

Lakeshore Legal Aid serves low-income people, seniors, and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in a holistic manner to address clients’ legal issues and improve our communities. Lakeshore provides free direct legal representation in southeast Michigan and the thumb and client intake, advice, and brief legal services throughout Michigan via our attorney-staffed hotline. Our practice areas include housing, family, consumer, elder, education, and public benefits law.

Position Overview:

Lakeshore Legal Aid has an opening for a full-time Executive Assistant in our Southfield office. The Executive Assistant will work closely with the Executive Team and aid in carrying out Lakeshore’s mission by providing high-quality administrative and clerical assistance.

Responsibilities: 

  • Managing information flow in a timely and accurate manner
  • Formatting information for internal and external communication – memos, emails, presentations, reports, etc.
  • Managing calendars and schedules meetings
  • Runs ad hoc reports, audits, submits and tracks data and information.
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Possess at least 5 years’ experience of administrative and/or office support experience.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as the ability to exercise discretion when processing confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced computer and technology skills with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior, teamwork and dependable.
  • Ability to determine and apply priorities and be a problem solver; ability to act as a gatekeeper and escalate relevant information to executives as needed.
  • Ability and a willingness to adapt to changing needs.
  • Potential hires are subject to a background check.
  • Writing sample may be required.

Salary

Starting salary for an Executive Assistant is $48,000 and it is commensurate with qualifications and includes excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance/AD&D, short-term and long- term disability, retirement plan, and paid time off.
