Elder Law & Advocacy Center is looking for a licensed Michigan Attorney in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan for a staff attorney position. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with long-term care Medicaid and caregiver issues in relation to care recipients, be comfortable with public speaking, handle pressure effectively, and work collaboratively with others. Your duties will include performing various legal tasks such as counsel, advice, document drafting, court appearances, and representation. You will also be expected to fulfill additional duties assigned by the Managing Attorney.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide comprehensive legal services and representation to Wayne County clients aged 60 and older.
  • Conduct thorough interviews with clients to understand their legal needs.
  • Stay updated on legal issues relevant to seniors and apply this knowledge in client cases.
  • Manage a personal caseload efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Attorney to address case complexities and ensure quality representation.
  • Perform various legal tasks including counsel, advice, document drafting, court appearances, and representation.
  • Fulfill any additional duties assigned by the Managing Attorney

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a Juris Doctor degree, be licensed to practice law in Michigan, and maintain good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.
  • Demonstrate familiarity in long-term care Medicaid and caregiver issues in relation to care recipients.
  • Ability to work independently, handle pressure effectively, and work collaboratively with colleagues when necessary.
  • Strong managerial and organizational skills essential for successful performance in the role.

The anticipated start date for this position is June 1, 2024. Salary range $55,000 to $60,000 dependent on experience.
