Michigan Advocacy Program - Financial Assistant - Ypsilanti

POSITION: Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP) is seeking applicants for a Financial Administrator in our Central Administrative office in Ypsilanti, currently working a blend of in-person and remotely. The Financial Administrator will be responsible for assisting with a number of financial systems including payroll; reconciling bank accounts ramp; credit card; grant tracking and reporting; audit support; general ledger entry; grant tracking and reporting and other duties to support MAP’s programs.

DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM: Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP)’s mission is to advance the safety, independence, and economic stability of those most affected by poverty, racism, and other structurally oppressive systems by increasing access to justice and working for systemic solutions. MAP’s direct services components are: 1) Legal Services of South Central Michigan, which provides free civil legal advice and representation to low-income residents of 13 counties in south central Michigan and 2) Farmworker Legal Services, which provides free legal assistance to migrant and seasonal farmworkers throughout the State of Michigan. MAP also provides administrative services to the five statewide programs of Michigan Statewide Advocacy Services, including the Michigan Poverty Law Program, Michigan Legal Help, the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center, the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative, and the Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be skilled in the use of Microsoft programs (namely Word and Excel), and be comfortable using technology in general. Applicants must possess excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills and have experience showing excellent attention to detail, time management skills, and an ability to prioritize work. Applicants should have at least an associate’s degree or equivalent experience. A major or experience in Accounting or Business Management preferred. Applicants should have accounting software experience; Sage Intacct a plus, but not required.

BENEFITS:  Starting salary is from $53,000 depending on experience. MAP offers a generous benefits package including life, short and long term disability, health, vision, dental and flexible spending accounts. If an applicant does not require health benefits, they have the option to take an annual $1,500 payout in addition to the base salary paid over the course of the year. MAP also has a generous leave policy allowing staff to accrue 3 weeks paid vacation the first year and 15 paid holidays, as well as a 401K retirement plan including employer match for eligible staff after 6 months of employment. MAP is a qualifying employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.  MAP is a unionized program.
